Valentina (Валентина Cергiенко), a Ukrainian known in Siracusa, Sicily as the orange girl, has lived for eight years in Italy (Sardegna and Sicilia) e Liam (William Daniel Wilson), an American musician/photogapher, has lived for five years in Sicilia. they are preparing a long trip by bicycle (beginning the first of June) from Siracusa to Kakhovka, Ukraine – a distance of approximately 3,000km. the trip will be an expression of their Tolstojan philosophy of the brotherhood of man, pacifism and respect for all living things. the couple plan to proceed from Sicilia through southern Italy, take passage in a sailboat to Greece, continue by bicycle to Istanbul, Turkey, then north along the coast of the Black Sea through Bulgaria, Romania and into Ukraine to Valentina’s home city of Kakhovka to pass the winter with Valentina’s mother. next spring they hope to continue by bicycle to Tula, Russia, the home of Lev Tolstoj.
